Day 32 (02/10/13) Living in NYC

Sunday, February 24, 2013
Temperature 24F to 32F

Starting my day with a latte from Rize Coffee.  While I was having my latte, I got curious about other kinds of coffee.  I saw Rize offering Cortado, so I started doing research to learn more about coffee.  I might have to try Cortado next time.  They only come in small, but I think they are stronger than a latte.

We were planning to go see Mary Poppins today.   I checked the TKTS app in the morning and I didn’t see Mary Poppins on the list, so we stopped by the New Amsterdam Theater to see if they offered tickets.  They did but the cheapest ones were starting at $95 a ticket.  So, the backup plan was to go see Chicago.  We went to the TKTS booth in Times Square and while we were waiting in line, Mary Poppins showed up on the board.  We were in luck to get those tickets at half price, $56 each.  Since we didn’t have a lot of time before the show, we stopped for a quick lunch at Café Edison on W 47th Street.  Mary Poppins was okay.  There were many kids in the theater.  The story was a little bit different from the one from the movie.  The coolest thing was at the end when she flew from the stage to the ceiling.  It will close for good on March 3rd.  I got a magnet at the end of the show.  I was debating if I wanted to get one because it was $10.

Before dinner, we walked around 5th Avenue and went to the Pond at Central Park.  For dinner, we went for Japanese ramen at Hide-Chan Ramen on E. 52nd Street.  The atmosphere was very Japanese.  The food was very good.  I had a spicy black ramen.  It wasn’t that spicy and the black part was seaweed.
